Gallery Oldham

Gallery Oldham is the first phase of a development plan to re-invigorate and better define the cultural quarter of Oldham. The gallery is an efficient four-storey, linear route around the edge of the town centre, providing a strong visual impact on its surroundings. Designed to reflect the Victorian mill buildings that once dominated this industrial landscape, the three new galleries are located on the very top floor allowing them to benefit from diffused natural light, and the extraordinary panoramic views. A striking building, the Gallery further demonstrates the town’s industrial heritage through the inclusion of clay rain screen cladding which matches local brick, a steel and glass tube containing the galleries on the top floor, and exposed in situ concrete internally.
