Qatar National Archive
The Qatar National Archive Building, in Doha, was designed by Allies and Morrison and inspired by the layout and materiality of Qatar’s vernacular architecture. Pringle Richards Sharratt were appointed as Archive Specialists in December 2021 to design the fit-out of archive facilities within the building shell.
Pringle Richards Sharratt carried out an analysis of the site and existing building, developed the project brief and advised on storage specification. Our work has also included the calculation of storage capacity for the existing collection and the required provision for the future expansion of stacks over eleven floors. The project includes the design of the associated specialist rooms, which support the archive function, including: document control, quarantine, digitisation, accessioning, cold stores and the laboratory-like conservation room.
