Designed to comply with the highest international conservation standards, the galleries feature covered arcades, one of which runs the whole length of the building.

This is surrounded by a variety of interesting spaces, linking the structure with the Winter Garden, now under construction, and the Peace Garden, to be built at a later date. The judges commented that the building fits well with its surroundings.
