Christie's South Kensington

South Kensington, London

Pringle Richards Sharratt were appointed in January 2016 as architects for the Christie’s South Kensington refurbishment project.  The brief included moving Christie’s Education into the South Kensington building, enhancing the visitor and client experience and improving Christie’s presence on Old Brompton Road. The aspiration was to create a new destination for art lovers in the heart of South Kensington.

The project comprised of the full refurbishment of the facilities to create a set of contemporary galleries, café, and a new client services hub in a new extension at basement and ground level.

The rationalisation of storage and office areas enabled the education brief to be accommodated within the existing building envelope and new offices in a first floor vertical extension. The street frontage was to be replaced to allow unimpeded views into the galleries.

Planning consent was granted in January 2017. Phase one of the construction was implemented 2017.
