Surrey County Hall
Pringle Richards Sharratt have been appointed by Surrey County Council (SCC) as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop architectural proposals for the future use of Surrey County Hall, which sits in the London Borough of Kingston.
Surrey County Hall is an important and substantial Grade II Listed building close to the civic centre of Kingston, however not within the county of Surrey. In a drive to ‘Move Closer to Residents’ approved by SCC cabinet in April 2019, the county are looking to vacate the building by the end of 2020 and attain the maximum possible benefit to provide the revenue to build a new Civic Centre in the heart of Surrey.
Working closely with agents Avison Young and Planning Consultants Turley, we have developed various options for a heritage led scheme to redevelop the whole site and maximise its potential for the local area of Kingston.
Our work has included carrying out a detailed assessment of the building and its context, preparation for involvement and consultation with key stakeholders such as The Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames and Historic England. We have also overseen the completion of a detailed Heritage Appraisal and Heritage Impact Assessment.
