Pringle Richards Sharratt Architects are working with Plincke Landscape Design, on the Planning and Listed Building Consent and Heritage Lottery Fund Round 2 Submission for the restoration of Springfield Park, which is a Grade II Listed green space in the London Borough of Hackney. The project includes the complete restoration of the Grade II Listed Springfield House to reinstate this much loved local building and improve its facilities for Park visitors. As part of the regeneration, a new Community Events Building is proposed within the restored walled Kitchen Garden. All of this is in association with a comprehensive set of improvements to the Park as a whole.
The project has involved working closely with local voluntary support groups; London Borough of Hackney; various key local Stakeholders and Historic England. Extensive consultation has been carried out to determine the brief. The design has been generated in line with the Conservation Plan and after carrying out a detailed Specialist Conservation Heritage Significance study to align the restoration, interventions and proposals to the significant historical features of the site.
If the HLF Round 2 is successful then works are targeted to start on site in early 2019 with completion in 2020. The overall capital cost of the project is £3.8 million, with £3 million of this secured in principle as part of the Round 1 Award from the HLF.
