In March 2019, Kegan graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg with his Masters in Architecture (Professional). Interested in cities and how we live in them, his thesis explored how generous public spaces and civic amenities can facilitate the coming together of different groups of people, especially in post-apartheid Johannesburg. Working in South Africa, he gained valuable experience of residential, community and heritage-led designs, and was also involved in larger-scale commercial and mixed-use developments up to 10000m², urban master planning projects, and private housing.

Kegan joined PRS at the beginning of 2020 and has since worked extensively on the National Heritage Lottery Fund supported projects Ipswich Museum and Brockwell Hall. For both projects, he worked on the design and documentation for NLHF and Planning reviews and approvals, including the development of Conservation Plans, Heritage Statements and Management and Maintenance Plans. Both projects were awarded planning permission and delivery-phase funding from the NLHF. Kegan is currently involved in the masterplan project for Whitgift School.
