Staffordshire History Centre

Stafford, Staffordshire

Pringle Richards Sharratt Architects have been appointed by Staffordshire County Council to create a new History Centre for Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent.

The new £4m centre is located on Eastgate Street in Stafford and holds historical records and collections up to 1,000 years old.

The scheme helped to provide a rejuvenated service combining the existing Records Office building and William Salt Library, in Stafford and provide a welcoming destination for all of those with an interest in local history. This includes bringing on to the Stafford site the Lichfield Records Office and aspects of the County museum.

Along with a new community exhibition space, modern reading and search rooms and a packed programme of activities the centre will also have additional strong rooms, providing storage for an additional 25 years of future collections.
